Kelsey Mitchell hit six free throws in the final 1:14 to help the Ohio State women’s basketball team rally past Michigan State 85-80 in the Big Ten opener for both teams on Thursday. Mitchell was a perfect 13 for 13 from the stripe in the victory in Value City Arena, which overshadowed her 0 for 10 performance from beyond the three-point arc.

Bad news for babies born Thursday at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center: You just missed being Baby New Year 2016. Good news: You’re going home with a very sought-after collectible. As it has done previously for big Ohio State games, the hospital is passing out Buckeye-themed blankets to babies. These read “Beat the Irish, 1-1-16,” a reference to Friday’s Fiesta Bowl between the Buckeyes and Notre Dame.
